Part 1 — Download & Install
1
Download the companion app
Tap the button below to download the APK file to your phone.
⬇ Download McCourt SMS Notify v5
💡 The file is ~45MB and saves to your Downloads folder.
2
Find and open the downloaded file
Android doesn't auto-open APK files. Here's how to find it:
- Open your Files or My Files app (pre-installed on all Android phones)
- Tap Downloads
- Find
mccourt-sms-notify-v5.apk and tap it
💡 Alternatively, pull down your notification shade — the completed download will appear there. Tap it directly.
3
Samsung only — Turn off Auto Blocker
Samsung phones block APK installs by default with "Auto Blocker". You must disable it first:
- Open Settings
- Tap Security and privacy
- Tap Auto Blocker
- Toggle it Off
⚠ You can turn Auto Blocker back on after installing. It only needs to be off during installation.
4
Allow installation & install
Now go back to your Downloads folder and tap the APK file:
- Open Files or My Files app
- Tap Downloads
- Tap
mccourt-sms-notify-v5.apk
- If asked, tap Install anyway
- Tap Install and wait for it to finish
💡 You can also tap the completed download notification in your notification shade to open it directly.
5
Open the app and pair it
- Tap Open after installation completes
- Enter your server URL:
https://sms.compuday.com
- On the desktop, go to Settings → Profile → Mobile Notifications and tap Generate Pairing Code
- Enter the 6-digit code in the app and tap Connect
- You should see "Connected ✓"
Part 2 — Battery & Notification Settings
6
Set battery optimization to Unrestricted
This prevents Android from killing the app and delaying notifications.
- Go to Settings → Apps
- Find and tap McCourt SMS (the companion app)
- Tap Battery
- Select Unrestricted
💡 On Samsung: it may say "Unrestricted" or "No restrictions". On Pixel: tap "Battery" → "Unrestricted".
7
Allow notifications
- Go to Settings → Apps → McCourt SMS → Notifications
- Make sure notifications are On
- If you have a DND (Do Not Disturb) schedule, add McCourt SMS as an exception

You're all set!
